Job Description

Job Description
As a Mobile Software Engineer, you will be executing new functions on our mobile app.

You will work hand in hand with our Marketing, Product, and Software teams to advise on the roadmap of the app.

The mobile app is the main user interface to control and communicate with our Willo device, so it is a strategic mission. It can handle multiple profiles and multiple devices through the same account.

We are looking for a fresh mind who work with another experienced mobile engineer to speed up the process of implementing new functions.

What You’ll Do🚀

  • Implement new features and fixes to the mobile in an agile environment, via collaboration with our design and product teams
  • Help drive the evolution of our development and design tools, development practices, deployment techniques, testing methodologies, etc that set us up to scale
  • Handle ambiguous problems by collaborating with other software teams (such as firmware, backend), prototyping quickly, and transitioning eagerly to product.
  • Provide technical leadership for the mobile app and the rest of the company, and contribute to a strong, healthy, engineering culture
  • Contribute to the technical development of your peers and colleagues
  • Write and implement tests (Jest, Detox, etc)

What We Offer🤗

  • Flexible working environment (Part time or full remote after onboarding)
  • Possible to travel between Paris, Limoges and New York
  • The chance to work with a growing software team that is committed to excellence
  • Stock options in a Kleiner Perkins and BPI backed startup
  • Two company retreats a year (Covid-permitting)
  • 25 paid days off a year

Preferred Experience

Skills required 🤖

  • 5+ years of combined professional experience in front end or mobile software development
  • 1+ year hands-on experience with React Native
  • Experience building mobile apps for Android and iOS app store distribution
  • Experience working in Agile development teams
  • Experience utilizing in-house RESTful APIs, influencing API design, and driving API changes starting from the desired end-customer experience in your app
  • Intimate knowledge of development tools and best practices -- Git, CD / CI (fastlane)

Preferred Experience 🔥

  • 3+ years hands-on experience with React Native
  • Experience building apps or front ends that interface with a physical device that doesn’t have its own screen or speakers (ie. IOT devices)
  • Experience with native modules
  • Experience with mobile analytics and metrics collection
  • Experience applying modern tools to solve internal and customer-facing problems
  • Project or program management experience

Who You Are 🦄

  • You deeply care about your users.
  • You love the challenge of a fast-paced startup environment and understand the complexities of balancing velocity, quality, team health, and tech debt in that environment.
  • You think outside the box, and get excited to tackle complex, ambiguous problems.
  • You work well in a matrixed environment, and can help ensure backend and firmware support is in place for the app features you need to build.
  • You’re able to autonomously build features composed of complex views/interactions, that interface with web services and a physical device. You can build these features with good, consistent velocity while being considerate of the ‘curveballs’ of mobile development, like hardware fragmentation.
  • You are knowledgeable about, and have conviction about professional software development lifecycle practices, source control, coding standards, code reviews, testing, build processes, and operational excellence.
  • A cool and nice partner to work with <3
